Introducing our new collection!

Introducing our collection of tableware in our new colours, updated with a few improvements for autumn and winter!  While most things have stayed the same, let me talk you through the slight changes I’ve made, making our tableware even more ergonomic and easy to use.
Our dinner plate design still has its original shallow rim, but slightly adjusted to stack better in your cupboards to save space and also to fit better in the dishwasher.  We’ve also been refining the making process to make them a little lighter and elegant, they now weigh only around 700g each.  Each one has subtle nuances giving it character by the rings on the wheel on the top, where they’re individually formed.  Our side plates are a scaled down version of the 25cm dinner plates, at approximately 20cm.  After a lot of testing, I think this is the most versatile size – it works really well for anything from dessert to cheese.
The cereal bowl design is updated to be slightly shallower, again saving cupboard and dishwasher space, and we've renamed this to be our everyday bowls since they're perfect for anything from soup to dessert.  It still has a well-rounded form, making it an ergonomic shape to hold whether you’re eating from the table or on the sofa.
Our hand bowls are back again by popular demand!  This was the original form that led to the development of the range, I was drawn to the simple curve of the side and the way it felt to use.  Fitting perfectly in the palm of your hand, it can be used in so many different ways: think granola, ice cream, a small serving of dessert, soup and even as a handle-less mug.
Our large and small mugs are now a shorter, squatter form with a large and slim, yet comfortable handle.  The large mug is approximately 9cm wide and 7cm high, while the small mug size is around 7.5cm wide and 6cm high.  Large mugs hold around 300ml and small mugs 200ml.  I’m really happy with this new shape, it’s perfect to get a good hug around your coffee and warm your hands, especially in these chilly winter months.
Excited to announce that our serving bowls are also back!  This is something I’ve been working on for a few months, refining the forms and the sizes to find a combination of the most versatile forms.  Stacking inside each other to save space, they’re available either as a set of three (these make great gifts) or individually, and then you can also mix and match the colours to create a custom set.  I like to use the large size to bake desserts in to make entertaining easy - just make, bake and serve from the same bowl, saving on washing up afterwards.
We've also introduced our range of two candles, hand poured in our Hampshire studio into vessels made on the pottery wheel.  This is something I've been working on developing for over a year, refining the form and finding the perfect strength of scent.  Introducing 'Oh so toasty' a warming Christmas-sy spiced candle, perfect for cosying up with on a stormy winter evening, and glazed in a beautiful bronze glaze with subtle shimmer and sparkles.  Our second scent is 'Sage and sea salt', a beautifully clean and fresh scent, working well in kitchens and bathrooms and glazed in our Milk glaze.  They have a burn time of approximately 40 - 50 hours, and when the candle is used up they can be washed out and used around the home.
Available in three new colours of Milk, Oatmeal and Chestnut, the collection is available in a new glaze finish we’ve developed which feels like leather, with a subtle sheen to it.  It’s a hard and very durable glaze and will stand up to any amount of wear and tear, perfect for use everyday by families as it doesn’t cutlery mark.  We make all our glazes by hand in the studio, testing new glazes and tones weekly, so all of our colours and finishes are completely unique to us.  If you have any ideas for colours you’d like to see in the future, why not drop us a line at hello@bartoncroft.com?  We’d love to hear your thoughts!
Our mugs are available in the full range of colours that we’d had since our beginnings, there are now 11 different options in a mix of satin and shiny finishes, and a spread of colours in both the earthy palette and also the more colourful shades.  If you would like any of the other pieces in one of these colours, you’re welcome to reach out; I’d be happy to customise pieces in your choice of glazes.
And as always, all our pottery is dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer safe.
